One ConnectShip UPS Carrier Component Takes the Place of Five

Working with UPS, ConnectShip has developed a Consolidated Component that Replaces Five Separate UPS Components: U.S., Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Canada.

With the new ConnectShip UPS Consolidated Component, customers can rate and ship UPS small package services from the U.S., Latin America, Europe, the Asia Pacific region, and Canada using a single component.

  • This consolidation improves the UPS offering in several ways including:
  • Faster availability of updates and features - quicker to update one component than five separate ones
  • Easier testing, fewer updates to install, and one component to maintain
  • Flexibility and scalability of a new custom data storage mechanism which can handle more complex carrier features and rating structures
  • A potential 15-20% increase in performance throughput in rating and shipping
  • Enhanced support of more complete service offerings -- origins have knowledge of each other to support full rating support for import control and international returns
  • Simplified configuration for international products like UPS Trade Direct
The ConnectShip UPS Consolidated Component now also supports both UPSlink and EMT methods for uploading end of day PLD files.

Dates to Know for Individual UPS Small Package Components

  • Effective January 1, 2014, the five legacy ConnectShip UPS Small Package Components are no longer available for sale individually
  • Effective January 31, 2015, the five legacy ConnectShip UPS Small Package Components will no longer be supported. This date coincides with the de-support date for ConnectShip Version 6.4 products.
  • No rate updates will be available for the 6.5 legacy UPS components and 6.4 version in January 2015.
  • All installations should migrate to the 6.5 UPS Consolidated Component before the 2015 rate update.

Migration to the UPS Consolidated Component

A set of tools has been made available via file download to our partners for migrating legacy component configuration to the UPS Consolidated Component. If you do not use a partner firm for service and integration, please enter a support case in Case Manager and our Support Team will provide you with the tools. Additionally, recent 6.5 software updates have added the capability for the UPS Consolidated Component to transparently accept and convert the legacy carrier, service, and document identifiers to their equivalents in the new component.
